Marilyn's last summer

Marilyn Monroe shot by George Barris, Santa Monica Beach, July 1962.
Love them.

La-la land Day 4 - Santa Monica

It just had to be done, hadn't it?

Also found a possible apartment. 21st street in Santa Monica, between Montana and Wilshire. 2 blocks away from Frank Gehry's house:

Not quite the same. But hey.

La-la land Day 1 - Arriving in style

We flew in over LA as the sun was setting, the city just looked unbelievably vast, and fireworks were going off everywhere to celebrate our arrival (or possibly Independance Day). Just magic. Freaking out a bit and being extremely tired from not sleeping to try to avoid jet lag... Had "bodybuilders breakfast" (chicken breast and eggwhites) in Manhattan Beach which is a great little village right next to the beach where they claim to have invented both surfing and beach volley. After driving around in Santa Monica for 4 hours looking for an apartment, we now know that it does actually look like this:

Found around 50 "for rent" signs, but only 5 of them were liveable and within our price range.
Lunch on 3rd street among tourists and homeless people (hundreds and hundreds of them).
